Technology

Our products store electrons in a capacitive field, instead of through chemical reactions like a lithium battery, making for a fast, rechargeable energy storage device that can store and deliver peak power pulses with millions of cycles. This technology, in its first generation, is called a supercapacitor, interchangeably known as ultracapacitor or EDLC (electrochemical double layer capacitor),

The PowerRESPONDER™ product line is a next generation, higher-energy-density, hybrid-supercapacitor. This hybrid cell stores energy in both Faradaic and capacitive modes, making for a higher energy density closer to lead acid battery energy densities, with very fast recharge, like a capacitor. It is much safer than a lithium battery as seen in the safety testing video recordings.

Supercapacitor technology has recently gained broad commercial acceptance in applications ranging from wind turbine controls, industrial UPS systems, commuter buses and cars, to the high tech electronics industry. These are rapidly growing multi-million dollar markets, where pulse discharge, bridge power, reliable backup power and a cycle life of hundreds of thousands of charge-discharge cycles are needed,

First generation supercapacitor or EDLC cells have a max 2.7 volts but the hybrid-supercapacitors, offered here as PowerRESPONDER products, can have a max of 4.2 volts.

Pulse power delivery and absorption in particular, is most efficient when stored right at the site of demand and the entire rest of system system can be made smaller and more efficient. The PowerRESPONDER supercapacitors have ultrathin and shapeable form factors along with high energy density, opening new applications for this next generation of energy storage devices.
